Rob joined Matrix in January 2011 from Piper Jaffray where he was Principal, Corporate Broking with the primary remit to build a European TMT and CRT securities business. Prior to this, Rob spent two years as Chief Financial Officer at Square Enix Europe (Eidos PLC), the EMEA publisher and global developer of one of the largest publishers of video games. Robert spent eight years at KBC Peel Hunt starting as an Equities Analyst and then Head of Research. Rob was a Lieutenant, Royal Navy (submarines) from 1989-2000.

Steven Fawkes joined Matrix in March 2007. A Chartered Engineer and PhD with over 20 years experience in energy management and renewable energy Steven has developed energy management programmes for blue chip organisations and advised the UK and Romanian governments on energy efficiency policy. He also co-founded two energy services companies, one of which is now part of the RWE npower group and has published extensively on energy matters. Having previously headed up research in New Energy and Clean Tech Steven moved into Corporate Finance in January 2011.

Richard joined Matrix in March 2011. Previously, Richard was Managing Director and Senior Adviser of Greenhill & Co (2002-2009), focusing on energy, renewable energy and infrastructure clients and advising on a number of transactions in the UK energy and infrastructure sector. In 2009-2010 Richard was also a Senior Adviser to the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). Prior to this, Richard was Head of the European utilities and energy advisory team at Goldman Sachs (2001-2002) leading a number of international mandates in Europe and Asia and was Deputy Director General of Ofgem (1999-2001), responsible for Regulation and Financial Affairs. Richard held the role of Managing Director at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (1981-2001) advising governments in more than 14 countries on electricity privatisation, liberalisation and related issues.

Stephen originally joined Matrix in May 2000 as a Director of Corporate Finance. Stephen BA FCA qualified as a chartered accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in 1977. Since 1978, Stephen has worked in corporate finance with major investment banks and as a director of Hill Samuel, CSFB, Citibank and SG Hambros. He is experienced in flotations and has been involved in numerous mergers and acquisition transactions in public and private, domestic and cross-border markets. Stephen is the initial point of contact for all AIM transactions.

Nick joined Matrix in March 2009, he has a degree in engineering (Bsc MBA). After a period working in engineering and manufacturing he moved into venture capital, before joining the Corporate Finance Department at Cazenove. At Cazenove he was involved with a number of FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies, with specialisation in emerging technology business. Since leaving Cazenove he has worked at Panmure Gordon and Collins Stewart. At Collins Stewart he worked on several innovative transactions, including the first AIPO of Northumbrian Water, the listing of gaming companies and a number of financial services transactions. He has also advised on numerous M&A transactions and IPO’s.

Nick joined Matrix in October 2010. Prior to joining, Nick spent over 3 years at the specialist advisory firm West Hill Corporate Finance Limited where he acted on a wide range of transactions including IPOs, M&A and private fund raisings including private equity and venture capital backed deals. Prior to this, he spent 4.5 years at the international law firm Norton Rose, where he was in the corporate finance team and advised a number of public and private companies and investment funds on a variety of corporate transactions across multiple jurisdictions.

James joined Matrix in August 2010. Prior to joining, James worked at Credit Suisse in the UK investment banking team where he advised UK companies on flotations and acquisitions. James qualified as a solicitor with Allen & Overy in 2009 and holds a BA in Jurisprudence from St John’s College, Oxford.

Edmund joined Matrix in March 2010. Prior to joining, he worked in Corporate Finance Advisory with Quayle Munro where he focused on the media and retail sectors. Edmund has experience of public and private fundraisings as well as M&A transactions. Previously, he was a journalist for newspapers in London and New York. Edmund holds a MA (Hons) in Modern History from the University of St Andrews.
