Malcolm Le May is CEO of the Investment Banking division. He has many years experience in the financial services industry having worked in investment and corporate banking, asset management and private equity. He joined Matrix from JER Partners, a specialist private equity real estate investor where he was President of their European operations. Prior to that Malcolm was deputy chief executive of Morley Fund Management, Aviva’s asset management arm. Prior to joining Morley Malcolm was global head of corporate and investment banking at ING Group having previously been head of European Investment Banking at UBS, joint head of corporate and investment banking at Barclays North America. Malcolm joined BZW from Drexel and started his career at Morgan Grenfell as a corporate financier. He is a qualified accountant and sits on the Advisory board of ThreeDelta , and the boards of RSA plc and Pendragon plc.

Malcolm joined Matrix in March 2010, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Price Waterhouse before joining Hill Samuel Corporate Finance (now Close Brothers). After nine years he joined Credit Suisse where he was a senior director focusing on cross border and UK M&A, the technology and media sectors and public bids. He left Credit Suisse in 2000 to become CFO of a Venture Development Company seeking a London listing. He became a Partner in KPMG Corporate Finance focusing on public company transactions, the TME sectors and private equity relationships. He joined Oriel Securities in October 2005, where he was responsible, inter alia, for: sector focused origination; the consumer, leisure and oil services sectors; and private equity companies.

Robin joined Matrix in April 2010. He has 24 years of corporate finance and broking experience. Robin has specialised in the energy sector and was Head of European investment banking for the Power & Utilities sector at UBS Warburg, Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette / CSFB and SG Barr Devlin. For the past two years he was head of Private Equity and Corporate Advisory at European Islamic Investment Bank, investing as principal in the energy and resources sectors. He has widespread international expertise, in particular in the UK, Europe, the US and the Middle East. Robin worked as a geophysicist in the oil exploration industry before moving into investment banking and has an MBA from London Business School and a Physics degree from Durham University.

Stephen originally joined Matrix in May 2000 as a Director of Corporate Finance. Stephen BA FCA qualified as a chartered accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in 1977. Since 1978, Stephen has worked in corporate finance with major investment banks and as a director of Hill Samuel, CSFB, Citibank and SG Hambros. He is experienced in flotations and has been involved in numerous mergers and acquisition transactions in public and private, domestic and cross-border markets. Stephen is the initial point of contact for all AIM transactions.

Louis joined Matrix in June 2008. He has over 20 years of corporate finance and broking experience including three years as Head of Corporate Finance at Insinger de Beaufort, eight years at Williams de Broe, six years at Price Waterhouse and three years at SG Warburg. He has widespread international expertise, having acted for companies in Australia, Canada, the Far East, South America and a number of former Soviet Union countries, in a variety of sectors including Oil & Gas and Mining.

Nick joined Matrix in March 2009, he has a degree in engineering (Bsc MBA). After a period working in engineering and manufacturing he moved into venture capital, before joining the Corporate Finance Department at Cazenove. At Cazenove he was involved with a number of FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies, with specialisation in emerging technology business. Since leaving Cazenove he has worked at Panmure Gordon and Collins Stewart. At Collins Stewart he worked on several innovative transactions, including the first AIPO of Northumbrian Water, the listing of gaming companies and a number of financial services transactions. He has also advised on numerous M&A transactions and IPO’s.

Alastair joined Matrix in May 2005. Prior to joining, Alastair worked in Corporate Finance with Williams de Broë Plc, providing financial advice to smaller and medium sized companies. Alastair has advised on all types of transactions including flotations, takeovers, acquisitions and fund raisings. In recent times he has specialised in advising mining and energy companies and completed transactions include the IPO’s of Leed Petroleum PLC, Tanzanite One Limited and UraMin Inc. He is a member of the Securities and Investment Institute.

James joined Matrix in January 2010 and brought with him 25 years of experience in the equity and debt markets as well in the upstream oil and gas sector. Originally a geologist and engineer for Halliburton group companies worldwide, James then completed an MBA in Paris before moving into energy finance in the early 1990s. He has worked for many leading energy project finance banks such as Calyon/Credit Agricole, Barclays Capital, Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi and Fortis Bank and was most recently Head of Oil and Gas at RMB Resources / FirstRand, heading a team with global responsibility for equity and quasi-equity investments. James has been involved in capital raisings in excess of $5 billion for energy groups on four continents and has also spent time as a Director on the Board of a producing oil and gas company.

Tim joined Matrix in July 2007 following two years with PLUS Markets as a Regulatory Analyst. Tim has advised on flotations, takeovers, acquisitions, fundraisings and capital markets regulations. Tim also previously worked for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in Financial Services. He graduated from Adelaide University with a Bachelor of Commerce (Corporate Finance & International Business) during which time he also attended the Sauder School of Business in Vancouver, Canada.

Edward joined Matrix in April 2010. Prior to this, he graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in Banking, Finance and Management and spent two years in corporate finance at a London based Nominated adviser and broker. Edward has advised AIM listed and private companies and has worked on a range of transactions including IPOs, reverse takeovers and fundraisings.

Edmund joined Matrix in March 2010. Prior to joining, he worked in Corporate Finance with Quayle Munro, undertaking a range of projects including acquisitions and valuation work across the media and retail sectors. Previously, he was a journalist for newspapers in London and New York. Edmund holds a MA (Hons) in Modern History from the University of St Andrews.

Ken merged his company with Matrix-Securities to form Matrix Corporate Finance in 1998. He has over 30 years' corporate finance experience, of which 18 years was spent with Baring Brothers in various locations including South Africa and Australia. Ken has overseen numerous transactions, advisory assignments and fundraisings.

Mark MacLean joined Matrix in February 2008. Mark has had over 25 year’s international experience in investment banking, M&A and institutional private placement. Prior to joining Matrix, Mark was a Director and Head of Private Equity Advisory for Seymour Pierce Limited in London and Global Head of Private Placement for WestLB Group. Previously, Mark was a Director of Barclays de Zoete Wedd in London and Vice-President of Kidder Peabody & Co in San Francisco.

Paul joined Matrix in 2009. Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in 2003, where he worked in the Private Equity and Investment Management group for 4 years. Following this he worked in corporate finance on two pan European Real Estate Funds at Henderson Global Investors and on a Central and Eastern European focused Fund at Dawnay Day. Paul has worked on the establishment of new Funds, structuring, investor relations and has been involved in transactions in excess of €500 million on a Pan European basis.

Prior to joining Matrix in August 2010, Rajit was an Associate Director at CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) Real Estate Finance. As part of the Equity Placement team he focused on the structuring and marketing of real estate funds. Rajit also worked alongside the Corporate Finance team advising on both investment transactions and multi-development regeneration projects. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) with Deloitte in 2004 where he worked in Corporate Finance. Rajit graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Kings College London.

Steve joined Matrix in 2009. He was formerly CEO of Elixir Securities, a corporate finance business which focuses on structuring individual financing solutions for early-stage public and private biotech and life sciences companies, which he founded in 2002. Prior to Elixir, Steve spent 8 years in equity research variously covering pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, chemicals and healthcare at UBS Warburg, HSBC, Cazenove and, most recently, as Head of Biotech & Healthcare Research at Commerzbank Securities. Steve has a healthcare industry background having spent 5 years in research and development and in business development for Genzyme Corp in the US.

Stephen joined Matrix in July 2009 from Elixir Securities, a specialist Life Science corporate finance boutique. Prior to Elixir, Stephen worked as a sell-side analyst in Life Sciences equity research at Commerzbank and Teather & Greenwood. Stephen started his career in Life Sciences at Evaluate Pharma Plc, one of the leading providers of industry analytics. Stephen holds a PhD from Cambridge University.

Emma joined Matrix in January 2010 as a PA in the Corporate Finance team. Emma previously worked as a Personal Assistant at Wellington Management and before this held similar roles in various other financial and retail organisations.
