Malcolm Le May is CEO of the Investment Banking division of Matrix. He has many years experience in the financial services industry having worked in investment and corporate banking, asset management and private equity. He joined Matrix from JER Partners, a specialist private equity real estate investor where he was President of their European operations. Prior to that Malcolm was deputy chief executive of Morley Fund Management, Aviva’s asset management arm. Prior to joining Morley Malcolm was global head of corporate and investment banking at ING Group having previously been head of European Investment Banking at UBS, joint head of corporate and investment banking at Barclays North America. Malcolm joined BZW from Drexel and started his career at Morgan Grenfell as a corporate financier. He is a qualified accountant and sits on the Advisory board of ThreeDelta , and the boards of RSA plc and Pendragon plc.

Chris became CEO in November 2007. Before joining Matrix he was CEO of Whitehead Mann Group Plc, the publicly listed executive recruitment firm. Prior to that he was Finance Director of Clifford Chance LLP, the global law firm. Chris began his career with Coopers & Lybrand where he became a partner in the audit practice in 1994. He spent 2 years in New York in the late 1980s and was based in China from 1994 to 1997 as Managing Partner of Coopers & Lybrand’s Shanghai office.

Paul joined Matrix in May 2010. He has over 20 years of experience in investment banking, most recently as COO of Global Banking and Markets at HSBC. Previously Paul held a variety of client facing roles and the management of support functions within Merrill Lynch, Instinet and BNP Paribas.

John joined Matrix in May 2006 with over 20 years experience in institutional broking. This includes 12 years at Hoare Govett, where he was a senior institutional salesman and also helped establish the South African business. This was followed by several years at both Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and Credit Agricole. John has extensive experience both in primary and secondary markets.

Dick joined the broking division of Matrix in January 2007. After starting his career with Bisgood Bishop in 1968, progressing from Blue Button to Director, he then joined UBS in 1986 as Managing Director, Deputy Head of Trading. He went on to become Head of European Proprietary Trading before leaving in 1998 to pursue private business. Dick was then hired by Bridgewell in 2002 to set up their Trading Desk.

Andy joined Matrix in January 2009. He has over 25 years experience and most recently set up Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander’s capital markets desk. Andy has also set up the sales trading desk at Chevreux (part of Credit Agricole); headed up the UK sales trading desk at Credit Suisse First Boston and ran the UK sales trading desk at UBS Phillips & Drew.

Matthew joined Matrix in July 2009 from Dresdner Kleinwort where he was Deputy Head of Global Equity Research from 2007-2009. From 2004-2007 he headed the Beverages equity research team at Dresdner Kleinwort which was top-3 rated by Extel for 4 years culminating in the no.1 rank in 2007. From 1997 to 2004 he worked at ABN AMRO as a Beverage analyst, heading the Beverages research team from 2000 onwards and achieving a top-5 rating from 2001 onwards. Matthew began his career at S.G.Warburg, and holds a Masters degree in Philosophy, Politics & Economics from Oxford University.

Bill brings 25 years experience of Debt Capital Markets to his role as Joint Head of Fixed Income. Previously, and together with Jim St Johnston, he developed the Fixed Income franchise at KNG Securities. Prior to that Bill was Founder and Head of HSBC’s Debt Capital Markets Financial Institutions group from 2002, and before that spent 10 years with Bear Stearns, rising to Co-Head of the Global Financial Institutions group. He has also spent some career time as a Capital Markets journalist.

Jim joined MCC as Joint Head of Fixed Income. He spent the last year developing the Fixed Income Advisory and Execution franchise at KNG Securities. Prior to that he spent 8 years at ABN Amro where he was Global Head of Debt Syndicate with responsibility for Asset Backed Securities, Bank/Hybrid Capital and Emerging Markets. Before that Jim spent 10 years trading at Swiss Bank Corporation.

Louis joined Matrix in June 2008. He has over 20 years of corporate finance and broking experience including three years as Head of Corporate Finance at Insinger de Beaufort, eight years at Williams de Broe, six years at Price Waterhouse and three years at SG Warburg. He has widespread international expertise, having acted for companies in Australia, Canada, the Far East, South America and a number of former Soviet Union countries, in a variety of sectors including Oil & Gas and Mining.

Stephen originally joined Matrix in May 2000 as a Director of Corporate Finance. Stephen BA FCA qualified as a chartered accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in 1977. Since 1978, Stephen has worked in corporate finance with major investment banks and as a director of Hill Samuel, CSFB, Citibank and SG Hambros. He is experienced in flotations and has been involved in numerous mergers and acquisition transactions in public and private, domestic and cross-border markets. Stephen is the initial point of contact for all AIM transactions.

Robin joined Matrix in April 2010. He has 24 years of corporate finance and broking experience. Robin has specialised in the energy sector and was Head of European investment banking for the Power & Utilities sector at UBS Warburg, Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette / CSFB and SG Barr Devlin. For the past two years he was head of Private Equity and Corporate Advisory at European Islamic Investment Bank, investing as principal in the energy and resources sectors. He has widespread international expertise, in particular in the UK, Europe, the US and the Middle East. Robin worked as a geophysicist in the oil exploration industry before moving into investment banking and has an MBA from London Business School and a Physics degree from Durham University.

Malcolm joined Matrix in March 2010, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Price Waterhouse before joining Hill Samuel Corporate Finance (now Close Brothers). After nine years he joined Credit Suisse where he was a senior director focusing on cross border and UK M&A, the technology and media sectors and public bids. He left Credit Suisse in 2000 to become CFO of a Venture Development Company seeking a London listing. He became a Partner in KPMG Corporate Finance focusing on public company transactions, the TME sectors and private equity relationships. He joined Oriel Securities in October 2005, where he was responsible, inter alia, for: sector focused origination; the consumer, leisure and oil services sectors; and private equity companies.
