Charles joined Matrix in May 2007. He was formerly CEO of Dexia Private Banking (UK) and Chairman of Ely Fund Managers Limited and has extensive experience of stock markets from the investors’ perspective. He also gained experience in Corporate Finance from his former roles with S G Warburg & Co Ltd and J S Gadd & Co Ltd (formerly C S Good). He was a founder non-executive director of Citigate (now Citigate Dewe Rogerson) and is currently Chairman of various unlisted and AIM listed companies.

Ken merged his company with Matrix Securities to form Matrix Corporate Finance in 1998. He has over 30 years' corporate finance experience, of which 18 years was spent with Baring Brothers in various locations including South Africa and Australia. Ken has overseen numerous transactions, advisory assignments and fundraisings.

Louis joined Matrix in June 2008. He has over 20 years of corporate finance and broking experience including three years as Head of Corporate Finance at Insinger de Beaufort, eight years at Williams de Broe, six years at Price Waterhouse and three years at SG Warburg. He has widespread international expertise, having acted for companies in Australia, Canada, the Far East, South America and a number of former Soviet Union countries, in a variety of sectors including Oil & Gas and Mining.

Alastair joined Matrix in May 2005. Prior to joining, Alastair worked in Corporate Finance with Williams de Broë Plc, providing financial advice to smaller and medium sized companies. Alastair has advised on all types of transactions including flotations, takeovers, acquisitions and fund raisings. In recent times he has specialised in advising mining and energy companies and completed transactions include the IPO’s of Leed Petroleum PLC, Tanzanite One Limited and UraMin Inc. He is a member of the Securities and Investment Institute.

Stephen originally joined Matrix in May 2000 as a Director of Corporate Finance. Stephen BA FCA qualified as a chartered accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in 1977. Since 1978, Stephen has worked in corporate finance with major investment banks and as a director of Hill Samuel, CSFB, Citibank and SG Hambros. He is experienced in flotations and has been involved in numerous mergers and acquisition transactions in public and private, domestic and cross-border markets. Stephen is the initial point of contact for all AIM transactions.

John joined Matrix in January 2007. Before then, he worked in Ernst & Young LLP’s Investment Management Group, providing financial and tax advice to listed and AIM-traded closed end investment funds. He has advised on many types of transactions, including flotations, fund raisings, mergers and reconstructions. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Tim joined Matrix in July 2007, following two years with PLUS Markets as a Regulatory Analyst. During this time he gave advice, inter alia, on admission document and prospectus preparation, guidance on the listing rules and admission requirements, and the application of the Companies Act and the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers. Prior to this he worked for Commonwealth Bank of Australia within Financial Services.

Anu joined Matrix in September 2007. Before then he worked in Ernst & Young LLP’s Transaction Advisory Group, providing financial transaction and due diligence advice to Private Equity houses and Corporate clients. He has worked on many types of transactions including flotations, fund raisings, refinancings and acquisitions of both private and public companies and more recently has specialised in Mining and Metals transactions. Anu is a Chartered Accountant.

John joined Matrix in May 2006 with over 20 years experience in institutional broking. This includes 12 years at Hoare Govett, where he was a senior institutional salesman and also helped establish the South African business. This was followed by several years at both Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and Credit Agricole. John has extensive experience both in primary and secondary markets.

Gavin joined Matrix in April 2007. He has nearly 10 years broking experience having worked almost exclusively managing primary and secondary offerings for growing companies into the institutional community. Most latterly he was Head of Sales and on the Board of Corporate Synergy Plc and before that he was at Brown Shipley & Co, one of the UK’s oldest banks.

John joined Matrix in April 2008. After starting his career with Legal and General Investment Management he then moved across into Broking. With over 20 years experience in Institutional Broking he was a senior institutional salesman with Panmure Gordon and Seymour Pierce where he was responsible for many primary and secondary issues

Ray Coole joined Matrix in January 2004. Prior to joining Matrix, Ray was a Director at Evolution Beeson Gregory plc, where he was responsible for third party institutional fundraising for a number of Private Equity Fund Managers. Ray has spent over 30 years working for blue chip investment banks and financial institutions.

Dick joined the broking division of Matrix in January 2007. After starting his career with Bisgood Bishop in 1968, progressing from Blue Button to Director, he then joined UBS in 1986 as Managing Director, Deputy Head of Trading. He went on to become Head of European Proprietary Trading before leaving in 1998 to pursue private business. Dick was then hired by Bridgewell in 2002 to set up their Trading Desk.

Pieter joined Matrix in September 2006 with more than 15 years in Investment Analysis, including 7 years with Credit Suisse, both in London and in Johannesburg. Before that his experience in South Africa included several years at UBS. He was previously rated in the pan-European Tobacco Sector in the Institutional Investor survey as well as in South Africa in the Diversified Industrial, Building & Construction and Transport sectors.

Steven Fawkes joined Matrix in March 2007. A Chartered Engineer and PhD with over 20 years experience in energy management and renewable energy Steven has developed energy management programmes for blue chip organisations and advised the UK and Romanian governments on energy efficiency policy. He also co-founded two energy services companies, one of which is now part of the RWE npower group and has published extensively on energy matters.

Brad joined Matrix in February 2007. A geoscientist by training, Brad spent 18 years working in the mining, resources and associated service industries in a range of exploration, development, production, marketing and financial roles, including long periods with major mining houses MIM and WMC. A native of Perth, Brad brings direct operational experience on five continents, most recently in China and central Asia where he focussed most of his time for the last 5 years.

Charlie joined Matrix in August 2008. He has a technical background and spent 10 years working as a geophysicist in industry, firstly at Britoil and then at Texas Eastern. During that time he worked on a wide range of exploration, development and production projects primarily in the UK North Sea. Subsequently, he has spent 10 years working as an oil & gas analyst at Canaccord Adams and more recently at Jefferies International, where he instituted oil and gas sector coverage in the UK.

Vugar joined Matrix in April 2008. An economist by background, he has spent the last 8 years working for BP Exploration in various commercial and financial roles based in Baku, Azerbaijan and Aberdeen, UK. Vugar was closely involved in sanctioning major oil and gas projects in both Baku and Aberdeen.

Graham joined Matrix, in June 2006, as Operations Manager, with 20 years experience gained in the securities industry. He was a senior manager for 15 years at Pershing Securities Ltd, a leading European outsourcing firm, and joins us from Dryden Wealth Management where he was manager of their middle office.

Robert joined Matrix Corporate Capital in September 2006 as institutional trader for the Broking division. He has over 7 years experience working within the financial markets. Robert spent most time at Pershing Securities Ltd, where he started his career, gaining exposure to both operational and trading areas. Robert gained further trading experience in various products working as equity dealer for both City Equities Ltd and SVS Securities Ltd.

Laura joined Matrix in November 2007. She most recently spent 15 months working as Brokers Assistant at Charles Stanley Stockbrokers in the City of London during which time she gained the SII Certificate in Investments (Reg.s and Securities). Prior to that, for 2 years she worked as PA to CEO and Administration Manager at Networking People (UK) Ltd, a banking and IT recruitment firm, contemporaneous to completing her LLB Law degree.

Christine joined Matrix in May 2008. She previously worked for UBS Wealth Management in Green Park for 3 years as an Investment Assistant.
